De Blossom Books tag (Met Marissa Meyer!)

Bij de najaarspresentatie van Blossom Books won ik een tag met Marissa Meyer, ontzettend gaaf natuurlijk! Aangezien ik door een aantal bloggers zelf ook was getaged, heb ik ook mijn antwoorden erbij gezet. 

1. How adventurous are you? Would you be willing to leave this world to explore a new one? Question based on THE 100 by Kass Morgan
Marissa Meyer: I love to travel and I love to try new things, but I don’t think I’m much of an explorer. If something has been tried and true, and lots and lots of other people have survived doing it, then I’m all in! For example, I’ve been on a hot-air balloon ride, gone for a tour around the Olympic Forest in a small three-seater airplane, taken a trapeze flying class, and gone scuba diving, among other adventures. I want to experience as much in this world and lifetime as I can! But as far as exploring a new world goes… I think I’ll let someone else go first.
Esmee: Ik ben denk ik niet super avontuurlijk, al speelde ik vroeger avonturier films wel na. Water World, Lord of the Rings. Ik deed alsof ik op pad was in een nieuwe, vreemde wereld. Toch wist ik wel dat ik gewoon op onze aarde was, dus ik heb ergens het idee dat ik niet zo avontuurlijk ben om zoals de mensen in The 100 naar een andere planeet te gaan.

2. If you could kill a fictional character, who would that be? Question based on SIX OF CROWS by Leigh Bardugo
Marissa Meyer: I’m not usually one for murder, but Game of Thrones definitely has some murder-worthy villains. King Joffrey is probably still the fictional character I despise above all others.
Esmee: Dit is een hele moeilijke vraag! Ik heb denk ik niet een personage dat ik graag dood zou willen, omdat dan ook het verhaal zal veranderen. Zoals Voldemort in Harry Potter. Als hij in het eerste deel dood zou gaan, dan zou daar de serie ook eindigen. Maar, omdat ik toch een naam wil geven, kies ik voor de boze heks uit Wicca. Ik wil geen namen geven, omdat ik dan spoilers weggeef.

3. Who is your OTP (one true pairing)? Question based on I’LL GIVE YOU THE SUN by Jandy Nelson
Marissa Meyer: Sailor Moon and Tuxedo Mask! The Sailor Moon anime (and manga) are what first introduced me to fandom and fanfiction, which was largely how I developed my voice and craft as a writer. These two characters and their epic romance will always have a huge place in my heart.
Esmee: Esmee en Peeta! Haha, nee dat was een grapje. (Al ben ik wel mega verliefd op Peeta). Mijn OTP van vroeger was Bella en Jacob, omdat ik Jacob gewoon heel schattig vond, maar vooral omdat ik het niet vond kunnen dat Edward Bella zo in de steek liet.

4. Who would you want to have in your author squad? Question based on KIDS OF APPETITE by David Arnold
Marissa Meyer: I am an enormous fan of Leigh Bardugo and Robin LaFevers. Their way with world-building and storytelling is simply phenomenal! And, what the heck, let’s throw J.K. Rowling into that mix as well. Because who wouldn’t want her on their author squad??
Esmee: J.K. Rowling, want zij is fantastisch op social media. Haar reacties op mensen zijn altijd on point. Ook mag Emmy (Zon en Maan) in mijn squad, want dat is supercool. En Kerstin Gier lijkt mij ook tof als member te hebben, want dankzij haar boeken heb ik het idee dat zij erg grappig is.

5. What is your favorite fairy tale? Question based on THE LUNAR CHRONICLES and HEARTLESS by Marissa Meyer
Marissa Meyer: I honestly don’t have one! I love so many fairy tales, and many of them have had meaningful impacts on my life since childhood. I do appreciate how universal the story of Cinderella is— that rags to riches story is one everyone on this planet can relate to, which I think is so powerful. But I also like the dark and creepy stories, like The Juniper Tree or Bluebeard, and I’ve always had a soft spot for Rumpelstiltskin too. I feel like he’s a misunderstood villain.
Esmee: Vroeger zou ik gekozen hebben voor de Disney versie van De Kleine Zeemeermin, haar pittigheid vond ik bewonderenswaardig en ook het feit dat zij een zeemeermin is maakte mij jaloers. Nu identificeer ik mij meer met Belle. Het meisje dat graag meer wil dan in een dorp opgroeien en ontzettend blij wordt van boeken, lezen en een mega grote bibliotheek. Plus, wij hebben allebei bruine ogen en bruin haar.

Blossom Books gaat alle boeken van Marissa Meyer uitgeven, wat echt mega awesome is. Het boek Harteloos is vorige week uitgekomen en in januari begint Blossom Books met de heruitgave van de Lunar Chronicles serie.
